Our team is internationally orientated and consists of three advocates, a supporting staff of two persons and one or more student interns.
Jan van Zuethem
Jan van Zuethem has been advocaat since 1998. After having worked at firms specialised in shipping in Rotterdam at first, he founded Van Zuethem Advocaten in 2009. Jan completed his law degree in Cologne and Referendariat in Düsseldorf and is both advocaat and Rechtsanwalt. Jan is bilingual (Dutch and German) and is also fluent in English. With a captain as grandfather and with his father being a shipping surveyor he feels like a fish in the water within his daily practice. Jan van Zuethem is registered in the records of the Dutch bar association in the domain of transport and trade law.
Marlous Weerts has been advocaat since 1995 when she started her career in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and she joined Van Zuethem Advocaten in 2016. She mainly specialises in cases for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and law of persons and family. Marlous has completed a part of her studies in Heidelberg, thus making a valuable contribution to Van Zuethem’s German practice. Marlous approaches every case with a practical and solution-orientated working method. During legal proceedings she takes pleasure in using all of the appliccable legal options. Marlous Weerts is registered in the records of the Dutch bar association in the domains of contract law, persons and family law and employment law.
Rosanne de Graaf
Rosanne de Graaf joined Van Zuethem Advocaten in 2014 and is advocaat since 2015. Being daughter of a captain, she could not think of any better legal field to work in than inland shipping after her graduation. As the holder of a boating licence, she knows the rules and regulations of inland shipping like no other. Next to her work as advocaat Rosanne also is active as a board member of BLN-Schuttevaer, Z O N division, where she commits herself to defending the interests of entrepreneurs who are in the business of inland shipping. Rosanne de Graaf is registered in the records of the Dutch bar association in the domains of civil law and transport and trade law.
Diana van der Vlies
Diana van der Vlies has been supporting Jan since 2006 and is the point of contact for many clients. She acts as office manager, bookkeeper, process manager and legal secretary. Diana speaks fluent Dutch, German and English.
Marij Luiken has been working in legal practices since she was 19 and has come into contact with a variety of legal fields. A large part of those centred around the law practice of persons and family. She has been a legal secretary at Van Zuethem since 2018 with great interest and enthusiasm, now in the field of inland shipping and transport law as well. Marij supports the advocates with dictations in Dutch, German and English and takes care of the procedural planning and part of the invoices.
